Cleaning bags and cases

Our bags and pouches are made of high-quality leather, which is water- and dirt-repellent. Nevertheless, due to frequent use, your leather bag or pouch may get dirty after some time. To keep the bag or pouch beautiful, it is important to clean it immediately. This will prevent the dirt from penetrating further into the leather. In addition, it is also important to clean the inside of the bag or pouch once in a while to prevent bad smells in the bag or pouch. As our bags and pouches are made of leather, they cannot be machine washed. Yet it is not difficult to clean your bag or pouch. Below is a step-by-step plan for cleaning both the outside of the bag or pouch and the inside.

Exterior of bag or pouch

Step 1: Spray de tas voorgebruik in met een kleurloze, water- en vuilafstotende spray. Dit voorkomt de ergste viezigheid.

Step 2: Try rubbing the bag clean with a dry cloth.

Stage 3: Coarser dirt can be removed with a soft brush or leather sponge.

StEP 4: Should this not solve the problem you can, with a slightly damp cloth wipe the bag.

Step 5: Then let the bag or pouch dry gently. (Beware! Do not put the bag or pouch in the sun or over the heater. This can dry out the leather.)

Step 6: Next, you can use a cleaning spray. Spray cleans the leather not only from dirt, which sits on the surface, but also from deeper-rooted dirt such as, sweat and other skin contaminants, which arise from frequent use of your bag or pouch.

Step 7: Spray the bag again with a colourless, water- and dirt-repellent spray to give it additional protection against dirt again.

Inside of bag or pouch

Step 1: Empty your bag or pouch.

Step 2: Empty the bag of dust and dirt over a bin.

Step 3: Next, use a clothes roller to remove the last bits of dust and dirt from the bag or pouch.

Step 4: Clean the inside with a damp cloth, using some detergent. When doing so, be careful not to get the cloth too wet, and the outside of your bag or pouch wet.

Step 5: If you only want to remove foul odours from your bag, you can sprinkle baking soda in your bag or pouch. Leave this in the bag or pouch for a few hours, then shake the bag or pouch empty.

Besides cleaning, it is also important to maintain the leather properly. In our next blog, you will read more about maintaining your leather bag or pouch.

Bag and pouch maintenance

When you have bought a new leather bag or pouch, of course you would prefer to keep it beautiful for as long as possible. Our Muud leather bags and pouches are very sturdy and durable. Yet it is very important to take good care of your bag or pouch if you want it to stay looking like new. Here are some tips to keep your bag or pouch looking good and lasting even longer.

Tip 1: Spray the bag with colourless water- and dirt-repellent spray before use. Our bags and cases are made of high-quality leather, which is inherently water- and dirt-repellent. Nevertheless, a water- and dirt-repellent spray can help to prevent severe stains.

Tip 2: Prevent the leather from getting very wet, so avoid heavy rain as much as possible. The leather is water-repellent, but in case of heavy rain, due to the large amount of water, the rain can still soak through the leather. This can cause nasty stains in the leather.

Tip 3: Let your bag or pouch dry calmly once it has become wet. Never place your bag or pouch in full sunlight or over a heater. Heat can dry out the leather and cause hard spots and discolouration on the bag or pouch.

Tip 4: Treat the bag or pouch, at least twice a year with a greasy cream. Oily cream contains nutrients and antioxidants, which leather needs. Lubricating with the cream will make the bag or pouch less likely to dry out and prevent cracks. In addition, a greasy cream can make current cracks and tears less visible.

Tip 5: Please note, that our products are made from natural leather and have not undergone any chemical finishing treatment. As a result, the colour of the bag may fade slightly over time, making the product more unique.

Tip 6: Make sure the bag or pouch gets enough oxygen. Therefore, never store your bag or pouch in a plastic bag or an airtight crate. A lack of oxygen can also dry out the leather.

Tip 7: Brush or wipe the bag regularly if there is dirt on it. By doing this in time, you will prevent the dirt from further soaking into the leather.

Has your bag or pouch become really dirty due to frequent use. Then read in our next blog, more tips on cleaning both, the inside, and the outside of your leather bag or pouch.

Maintenance barbecue aprons

When you've bought a leather barbecue apron you, preferably, want to keep it beautiful for as long as possible. Thanks to the high-quality leather, our Muud leather barbecue aprons have a long lifespan and are very sturdy. However, it is also important that the leather apron is well maintained to guarantee a long lifespan. Below are a few maintenance tips that will help to prolong the life of your leather barbecue apron.

Tip 1: Spray a new leather apron, before use, with a colourless, water- and dirt-repellent spray. Our Muud barbecue aprons are made of high-quality leather, which makes the barbecue aprons water-repellent by themselves. Nevertheless, a colourless and water- and dirt-repellent spray can help prevent bad stains.

Tip 2: Never place the leather apron in full sun, or close to a stove. Heat can dry out the leather, making the apron hard, and cause small cracks in the leather.

Tip 3: Lubricate the leather apron with a greasy cream several times a year. Oily cream contains nutrients and antioxidants, which leather needs. Lubricating with the cream makes the apron less likely to dry out and prevent cracks. In addition, a greasy cream can ensure, that current cracks and tears become less visible.

Tip 4: Never store the leather apron in a plastic bag. It is important, that the leather can get enough oxygen. A lack of oxygen can also cause the leather to dry out.

Tip 5: Do not fold the leather apron when you store it. When the apron lies folded for a long time, folds can appear in the apron. These folds are almost impossible to remove from the apron.

Did a stain get into your leather apron while barbecuing, and are you bummed. Then read our next blog for cleaning barbecue aprons. In this blog we explain to you, how best to remove grease stains from your leather apron.

Cleaning barbecue aprons

While barbecuing, it is inevitable that your leather apron gets dirty. After all, you quickly get grease splatters from meat on your apron. If you want your apron to stay looking nice, it is therefore very important to clean your leather apron properly after use. Especially for professional use, it is important to keep your apron well-groomed and hygienic. But what is the best way to clean a leather apron? Leather aprons cannot be machine-washed like cotton aprons. Yet cleaning leather aprons is not difficult. Below we explain step by step how to get those nasty grease stains out of your leather apron.

FOR USE

Step 1: Before use, spray your leather barbecue apron with a colourless water- and dirt-repellent spray.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE APPEARANCE OF THE STAIN

Step 2: Take a damp cloth. By gently dabbing on the stain, try to remove the stain from the apron. (Note! Make sure the cloth is not too damp).

Step 3: Let the apron dry gently. (Do not hang the apron in the sun or over the stove, this can dry out the leather).

FOR A DRIED STAIN

Step 5: Try to remove the stain by gently rubbing the leather together. Should this not work with just rubbing, you can use a soft brush or leather sponge for this.

Step 6: Spray some leather spray on the stain, let the spray soak in for a while and then clean the stain with a sponge or cloth. The spray removes stubborn stains and dried dirt.

Step 7: For a really stubborn stain, you can use saddle soap in addition to leather spray, to remove the stain. Apply the saddle soap with a damp cloth or sponge, and slowly rub the stain (be careful not to use saddle soap too often, as it is very aggressive).

Step 9: Finally, it is important to re-spray your apron with colourless and water- and dirt-repellent spray to keep your apron looking great in the future too.

After cleaning the apron, you can start maintaining it. Read more about the maintenance of leather aprons in the following blog..
